October Announcements

Halloween Carnival

The 2018 Halloween Carnival is quickly approaching and we need your help! This year's carnival will be held on Friday, October 26th from 5-7 pm. There are two available shifts: 4:45-6 pm and 6-7:15 pm. PSA will provide all the materials and candy, all you have to do is help us run the booth! Please feel free to dress up! More specific details will be sent to those who sign up to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this short form. Thank you for helping us make the Halloween Carnival a success! 

T-shirts & Dues

If you would like to become a member of of PSA, please pay your dues (and fill out the new member form) ASAP so we can order t-shirts. If you are already a member of PSA and would like a t-shirt, they will be $12. If you would like to become a member as a 2nd or 3rd year student, dues will be reduced. Please contact Lisa Yun or Jennifer Nguyen for more information. 

September Meeting

Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first meeting. If you weren't able to make it, don't worry! Below is a short recap of what was covered as well as links to everything that was discussed.

Meetings are once a month and generally will include a speaker or panel as well as highlight upcoming volunteer and social events. 

Volunteering Opportunities include:

- Pedi Floor (John Sealy Hospital) where you get to play games/watch movies/plan activities for pedi patients, and assist child life specialists. Volunteering is in hour-long shifts M-F. 

- NICU where you get to hold/feed/change babies in the NICU as well as assist NICU nurses. **Requires additional training.

**Both pedi floor and NICU volunteering require you to attend a general volunteer orientation and to submit your current TB and flu shot records.

- Upcoming events: UTMB Halloween Carnival, UTMB Pediatrics Toy Drive, Grand Kids Festival. More info to come.

Membership covers all years of attendance at UTMB, 1 PSA t-shirt, and lunch at each of the meetings. The cost is $35 for School of Medicine and $20 for School of Health Professions and School of Nursing. Membership dues must be paid by the November meeting. You can pay via cash or venmo (@UTMB-PSA).
